Research Interests & Positions

My research interests lie predominantly within the anxiety disorders and specifically with the aetiology and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). If you are interested in the results of my research please refer to the publications page as I have also included copies of the actual papers. Web-based presentations are also available from the workshops page as an adjunct to some of my papers.

Position: Research Consultant.

Position: Director of Research into the treatment of PTSD. A randomised, controlled clinical trial.

Topic:- The treatment of post traumatic stress in a generic sample, using either CBT or EMDR.

Exogenol (Industry) - Evaluating the dosage effects of an extract of pinus radiata bark on cognitive and cardiovascular functioning ($54,000)

NH&MRC (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). Efficacy, mechanism of action and safety of Bacopa Monniera extract as an adjunctive treatment for Alzheimer’s disease ($573,000).

NH&MRC (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). A randomized double blind trial assessing the efficacy of REMOTIV® (ZE117), nicotine patches and combination patches for smoking cessation ($400,308).

NH&MRC (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). A randomised, placebo controlled clinical trial examining the efficacy of the omega-3 fatty acid EPA on major depression ($406,881).

  • The prevention of trauma reactions in police officers: Decreasing reliance on drugs and alcohol.
